XStream is all-in-one playout solution with a built-in automation, video server and channel graphics. It gives the power to manage every transmission function in your channel, from ingest to playout of content, channel branding and redundancy management all from one single 3RU box.
The Solution consists of a Play list Manager (Skedula), Ingest Manager and Play out System( XStream Play). It is an advanced disk based system for on air playback of both short-form content (commercials, promos, etc) and long-form content (programs, films, etc). It supports all industry compression and file formats. Also a unique system architecture means ingest and playout can be direct from a central NAS storage over LAN and controlled by dedicated client PC’s on the same network. Built for 24x365 applications, it is a compact, expandable, compatible, and flexible solution with outstanding performance and functionality.
Features
• Support for both standard and high definition pre-compressed content, with multiple video formats
• Multi Compression format support
• Automated playout and ingest of content from the server, Live and satellite feeds.
• Facility to Browse clips while editing the play list so the operator can see the clips before he adds it to the schedule.
• Dynamic channel branding, including logos, tickers, scrolls and flash animation with real time RSS and XML data feeds from news agencies or other sources.
• Special graphics elements to show “Coming up next” and “Showing Now”
• RAID keeps you on air even if one of Hard disk fails at the time of on-air.
• Internal storage of 4TB that can be expanded by using external storage box to meet growing requirements
INGEST MANAGER
The Module helps the user to ingest the contents from different sources like VTR, Live or disk in to the Video server. Various
ingest applications are made possible by the wide array of inputs provided - composite, component, firewire, SDI, ASI, LAN.
Based on the application requirements a stand alone or PCI based Encoder can be used.
RS-422 VTR control by Sony protocol is provided for automated batch capturing off tape. Playback and shuttling is quite easy
with convenient keyboard shortcuts. Unlimited amount of clips from various tapes can be captured in a single session, sorted
by tape ID and ascending timecode. Once the capture session is initiated, the only operator assistance needed will be to
change tapes when prompted.
Content coming from live sources such as satellite feeds can be automatically captured based on a schedule. Audio VU/peak
levels can be monitored and corrected accordingly. Ingested clips can be used for immediate editing or playout, before their
capturing process is finished. This is particularly useful for sports events or Time Delay/Instant Replay applications.
Features
• High-quality capturing in variety of compressions
• Scheduled capturing of satellite feeds with automated channel switching
• VU/peak audio meters are available for precise audio level fine-tuning
• Streaming live MPEG2 video through UDP (optional)
• HD and HDV capturing (optional) Automated RS-422 or Firewire VTR control with batch capturing lists
• File splitting based on duration
• Third-party traffic system capture log import
• Multi-channel audio capturing (optional)
• Logs all the successful ingest and errors generated by the system.
XStream Play
XStream provides automated content playout for satellite channels, cable head-ends, over-the-air broadcasters. It is designed
to be extremely robust, in order to meet the highest reliability demands of on-air playout. A single XStream server offers the
same visual quality at its single- or multi-channel SDI outputs, multi-language audio, graphics and subtitle insertion, last-minute
playlist changes and clip editing.
Any combination of MPEG2 clips at differing resolutions, bit rates, profiles and levels can be played in a single sequence
seamlessly with no glitches. The cut from one clip to another is completely seamless even with live streams - no black frames,
no pause, no last frame freeze, no audio pops, no glitches, no duration limitations.
There are no qued or locked clips. Every clip in the playlist, except the one which is currently playing, can be trimmed, edited or
repositioned. Moreover, playlist order can be changed on-the-fly with commands like skip to next or jump. Such order changes
are performed seamlessly without stopping current playout session.
For automated playout XStream allows fixed-time scheduling for weeks ahead. Resulting gaps or time overlaps are
automatically resolved in order to ensure continuous operation even when conflicting timed events are present. Special
facilities ensure uninterrupted operation if content files or even entire schedules are missing or misplaced.
